Should I purchase Luxury plank flooring or wood flooring?
This is probably the most difficult question we are asked because the answer is based on your priorities, Although aesthetically they look similar each has a set of advantages and disadvantages. Both are pet friendly, water resistant and overall very durable options. Both floors can scratch and dent.
If you have pets, younger children and are most concerned about frequent liquid spills, luxury plank could be preferable. If you are working with a more limited budget or don't plan to be in your home long these might also be great reasons to purchase luxury plank flooring. Luxury Plank flooring is easier to install if you are considering installing yourself.
On the other hand if longevity and ability to repair or refinish over a long period of time is your priority, hardwood would be your solution. Hardwood also provides the largest return on your investment, it is considered a premium feature that can enhance a home's market appeal and value. It is recommended that it be installed by a professional.
The sound underfoot is also a factor to consider between the two options. Luxury plank flooring is typically installed floating and wood flooring is typically glued to the subfloor. If you are looking for a more quiet option wood flooring would be the solution. Some luxury plank manufactures do allow their floors to be installed with glue down method to eliminate the hollow sound. In doing so it is no longer the more budget friendly option because the cost of labor and adhesive would then be the same as wood flooring.
If Environment is your main priority, hardwood is the most eco friendly and biodegradable flooring option. It also offers the healthiest indoor air quality with the least amount of chemicals
